Bedford Lodge is ideally situated in the beautiful Old Village of Shanklin in the Isle of Wight. It is set in its own south facing, private garden with sloping lawns, mature trees, flowering bushes and a sun terrace with views towards the Downs. Bedford Lodge has been welcoming guests to the Isle of Wight for over 150 years, and was built in the 1840’s overlooking the Chine and it was considered to be an idyllic spot for ‘taking the air’ and ‘promenading. There is a pretty breakfast room and a well stocked bar for those who like the odd tipple.
If you wish to extend your holiday beyond a 4-night stay then Gilly is offering a 10% discount on all rooms subject to availability. Please contact Gilly directly on 01983 862416 to discuss your requirements. Any additional nights need to be paid directly to Bedford Lodge.
Other things to do and places of interest
The beach and Shanklin Esplanade are at the end of the road and Tower Cottage Park and the Chine are opposite. Shanklin has all the charm of a proper seaside town and set against the dramatic sandstone cliffs, the beach is one of the most stunning walks to take on the Island. It is famous for its small gift shops, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants. Also situated in the Old Village is the Tourist Information Point within the Vernon Cottage Gift Shop, stocking a range of leaflets and guides containing useful information to help you during your stay on the Isle of Wight.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: the cost of the holiday does NOT include travel.
Car ferry: Gilly at Bedford Lodge can arrange a discount on the car ferry from Southampton. If you require this service please contact Gilly on 01983 862416 specifying your preferred port for departure and crossing times, and she will advise you on prices.
Foot passengers: there is an option to travel by foot using the ferry, hovercraft or fastcat: www.wightlink.co.uk
As it is peak season we suggest you book your transport as early as possible to avoid the disappointment of inconvenient times.
You are strongly advised to take out your own travel insurance for this holiday which is at your own cost
A project yarn pack will be available for you to work through during the retreat. In the past, most workshop participants do choose to work on the project, but it is not compulsory. Debbie is more than happy if you would prefer to bring your own WIP and work on that instead.
Non-participating partners and friends are welcome to join us and will receive a discount of £195. Please contact Sue for more details: email@example.com
