Hurds Hill Knitting Retreat with extra activities including Wine Tasting and Chocolate Making Workshops. All Rooms £1025

We are thrilled to invite you to an Inspired Minds knitting event at a new location and we hope you can join us! Debbie and Sue will be hosting a four-night break at a beautiful privately owned Regency country house in Hurds Hill, set amidst the rolling hills of Somerset in five acres of peaceful grounds.

There are fifteen individually designed bedrooms, themed to house David’s own eclectic collection of furniture, pictures and books, so this is something completely different to our usual choice of venue. Our group will have exclusive use of the whole house for the duration of our stay, with everything needed for a relaxed holiday and workshops held in an informal atmosphere.

The evening cuisine is described by David as ‘Country House Fine Dining’, with a delicious and nutritious three-course home-cooked meal created by the in-house chef. However, they will accommodate any dietary requirements you may have.

In addition to the fifteen bedrooms, the house has many other sitting rooms and lounges where you are welcome to sit and knit, or simply take some time out and relax. There is a separate kitchen with a fridge for attendees to use where tea/coffee/fruit juice can be accessed at any time. There is also a bar service at set times with drinks available which will be charged to your room, unless otherwise stated in the cost of the retreat.

As this will be a small group, David has arranged some additional events which are included in the price. There will be a wine tasting class run by a local wine merchant and a delightful chocolate making class where you will be shown how to make your own truffles! Plus there will also be an optional one-hour local boat trip on the Duchess of Cocklemoor on your free day. So if you like knitting, wine and chocolate, this is the retreat for you!

If you want to book a place, please select a room, then secure your place by paying a £50 deposit. Once you have done this and had an automated acknowledgement of your deposit payment, we will send you another confirmation email within the next couple of days which will contain the details on how you can pay the remaining balance for the weekend. We ask for this to be paid via BACS in full now or by the 31st May 2024. Our account information will be within the email.

Should you find that you cannot attend the workshop please note that the initial deposit is non-refundable unless we can fill your place. Any rooms not paid in full by the payment deadline will be re-advertised for sale after that date unless you have contacted us. More information about the workshop is shown below.

If you have any queries or want to get in touch, please hit reply.

Best Wishes

Debbie & Sue

The Workshops

Debbie will hold one full-day and one half-day workshop during the retreat and will demonstrate various knitting techniques to guide you through the project she has created for the participants. On the first evening you will be welcomed with a complimentary drink and an introduction to the project so that you are prepped and ready for the first workshop in the morning.

Debbie has a long history of teaching knitting and is keen to pass on new skills to people that are eager to learn. So as well as brushing up on existing skills, you may learn a new technique too!

The Project

Debbie will design a small project for the participants to knit up during their stay, and everyone will be given a knitting kit which will include Rowan yarn and Debbie Abrahams beads. In the past, most workshop participants do choose to work on the project, but it is not compulsory. Debbie is more than happy if you would prefer to bring your own WIP and work on that instead.
